The most sizeable and fashion packed issues of the year are complete with coverage of the latest and greatest trends and interesting articles. This year, Kate Moss stole the show on the cover of American Vogue in a stunning plum dress, photographed by Mario Testino. As for Harper's Bazaar's cover, it was Lea Michele of Glee's time to shine and she did nothing but in a stunning white and gold chain confection. The trees are already starting to lose their leaves, and as August comes to an end, Fall is approaching with haste. Luckily, we can all bundle up with a colour that's bouncing back so hard, you will be on it like white on rice! Not literally, though.

The trendy colour we're talking about for fall, is in fact burgundy. It's all over the runways, and not to mention, most stylish fashionistas. No website, no blog, no twitter -- NET A LA MODE still found Sheila De La Cruz on Lookbook.nu (the best style site to find the next up and coming Style Icons!) and had to make a point out of this fashionista. She caught our eye not only with her own eye for style, but also the interesting and unique photographic aesthetic to her looks. We stopped and stared for a while, and you will too! Take a peek below at her totally rad outfits, with which she truly defines the Desert Boho look -- a style and attitude that everyone wants to have right now. Awesome looks, Sheila! 21st century fashion has clearly taught us that exaggerated shoulder pads were not supposed to fade away in the 90's.

Back to Ask The Stylist!

Today we're covering none other than the incredibly gorgeous trend of the shoulder pad. In contemporary fashion, we are seeing more and more of the super retro, and yet, super futuristic shoulder pad and women everywhere are feeling empowered. Found mostly on jackets and blazers, this specific trait on an outdoor garment has the ability to make any woman feel like a queen. We all see it on the runway, and even on the streets if we're lucky, but the question is -- how do we wear it?

Fear not, the answer is simple. Based on what you're outfit of the day is, you have to consider 3 things:
a) your attitude
b) the occasion
c) how much ass you want to kick upon exiting your house (it's a lot, we know.)

When dressing with a jacket or blazer that has extensive, and even sharp shoulder pads (watch out for the eyes, ladies), make sure that you keep the rest of your outfit clean and cut. The item of glory is the said-jacket, and you want to make sure that the rest of your outfit does not steal the thunder (leopard heels, hot pink mini dress, etc... unless you're aiming to look like Lady Gaga, that is.)

The website is designed in a user-friendly manner and is equipped with both English and French versions. Also on NET A LA MODE? A personal style finder, for those who want to reinvent their looks in time for fall.

Festival Mode&Design: Eve Gravel

Attention, Montreal fashion enthusiasts. Your favorite time of year has come again: The Festival Mode&Design de Montréal, which will kick off on Wednesday (August 3rd) and last until Saturday (August 6th). For 2011, the lineup is nothing short of amazing and we strongly encourage you to attend and participate in supporting budding talent.
