The fashion industry's most talented were celebrated at the 2012 CFDA Awards, surrounded by spectacularly well-dressed models, designers and celebrities. Sportwear-inspired gowns, colour-blocking, high-low hem, cut-outs and sheer fabric were the trends to be spotted. Of the prizes were awarded, The Row took home the Womenswear Designer of the year, and Joseph Altuzarra the Swarovski Award For Emerging Talent in Womenswear Design. Kate Bosworth wore an exquisite Joseph Altuzarra sarong-like dress from the 2012 Fall collection. Her waist was exposed by a cut-out on the brightly printed dress and belly dancer medallion coins emphasized her hips.

Anna Wintour got the first pick on Marc Jacobs 2013 Resort Collection. She wore a sparkling floral-printed dress.
#5 Hilary Rhoda
Hilary Rhoda opted for a sportier gown by Rebecca Minkoff. The navy, azure and sky-blue colour-blocked gown had a thigh-high split and cut-outs under the bust.

As Michael Kors' date, Joan Small wore a white dress with a sportwear-inspired tank neckline and a high-low hem from the designer's 2012 Pre-Fall Collection.

Sophia Bush wore a draped tangerine David Meister Signature dress with a short train and a thigh-high split. She matched the dress with a color-blocking pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Echasse’ blue-and-orange sandals.

Victoria's Secret model Erin Heatherton brought greek goddess glam to the red carpet in a Michael Kors gown. The turquoise halter dress from the designer's 2013 Resort Collection had an intricate gold neckpiece.
#1 Zoe Saldana
Pradal Gurung's arm candy wore a long black gown with sheer panels on the waist and arms and a sheer train showing off Zoe Saldana's sleek legs.
The fashion's Oscars was full of glam and full of drama. Betsey Johnson snuck in some champagne in a Fiji water bottle tucked away in her gold purse. Host, Seth Meyers, later poked fun at the fashionistas, saying “Fashion people like hating things more than they like liking things," but not before warning them that “Fashion and comedy go together like bar mitzvahs and John Galliano.” Johnny Depp was a no show to accept his Fashion Icon Award and Anna Wintour presented Tommy Hilfiger with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
