Red Carpet Report: 2012 Much Music Video Awards

Oh Canada... for the longest time, you were considered the passive and boring cousin of the United States, but watch out Tijuana, you might get dethroned as party central!  We already had a hunch that Canada had a wild side with the drinking age being 18 and the higher ABV but recent events like the naked protests of the Maple Spring in Montreal and the legalization of brothels in Toronto prove that Canada is definitely a wild child.  The 2012 Much Music Video Awards are the perfect example of Canada's lack of bashfulness.  There was more skin than Janet Jackson's nipplegate, Paris Hilton's pantyless upskirt and Madonna's nip-slip combined!  And the best part was that instead of the girls showing off some skin, it was the guys showing off a lot of skin!  You can't expect less than that when the boys of LMFAO are co-hosting the show, they put the girls to shame!  We at NET A LA MODE have broken down the trends spotted at the 2012 Much Music Video Awards for you.  Whether or not you follow them we'll leave to you!

Man-Candy:
Always show up at parties surrounded by a possy of shirtless men, preferably oiled up!

Carly Rae Jepsen arrived on Queen Street West in a convertible Mustang with shirtless arm candies.

Kreesha Turner performed her single Love Again at the street party with leather-bound shirtless male dancers.

The guys of LMFAO never shy away from the opportunity to wear the skimpiest outfits while performing on stage.  Girl look at that body!

Even Flo Rida joined the shirtless party!

It's Morphing Time! :
All eyes will definitely be on you if you dress up part animal, part human.

Marianas Trench galloped down the red carpet.

Katy Perry emerged from a cocoon wearing glittery butterfly wings while performing her new single Wide Awake.

Do you think Katy Perry was trying to channel Britney Spears circa the Toxic era by sporting a sparkling bodysuit or instead Jennifer Lopez who herself was inspired by Britney earlier this year?

Baby Boom:
If you can't find a man-candy to be your fashion accessory, opt for youglings that look like a past version of you.

The heart of Beliebers probably skipped a beat when they saw Justin Bieber walk down the red carpet with what appeared to be the product of a secret love affair. It was actually his baby brother, don't worry!

Likewise, Katy Perry Octomommed it to the red carpet.  She was accompanied by eight little girls dressed up as characters from her music videos.

Bling Bling
Outshine everyone with gold accessories.

Far East Movement walked the red carpet all blinged out.

Selena Gomez looked as cute as a disco ball in her gold mini dress and gold sandals.

High Split:
Why show only one leg when you can show both?

Carly Rae Jepsen showed off her legs on the red carpet with her men-candy and this is where most minds went:

90210's Shenae Grimes showed off her legs too on stage and sure showed us that she grew up since her days on Degrassi.

Glamazonian:
Don't be afraid to bring out the warrior in you.

Nelly Furtado looked fierce while peformeing Big Hoops on stage.  We are loving the cuff bracelets.

Katy Perry sported a gold and black dress.  Who would mess with a goth/gladiator Katy Perry?

In the end, Carly Rae Jepsen was the big winner of the night with three awards: the Video of the Year, the MuchMusic.com’s Most Watched Video and the fan-driven UR Fave Video of the Year for “Call Me Maybe.” Carly Rae Jepsen stole the hearts of Canadians - maybe rebellious Canada will steal yours too!
