From McQueen to Future Queen

Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of the world’s strange obsession with fascinators, scones, cucumber sandwiches and Pippa’s bottom.   Our infatuation  with the Cinderella-esque wedding (minus the glass slippers – still waiting for Louboutin!)  did not end there as Kate Middleton proved that she is indeed a fashion icon worthy of bowing down to.   The polished and elegant Duchess  has yet to make a fashion faux pas, sticking with the tried and tested styles that have won us all over.  To celebrate the Duchess of Cambridge‘s first year as a Royal, we take a look at our 5 favourite outfits.

Flowers have blossomed and the sun is blazing; summer is the period of cheerfulness and relaxation. As much as the temperature rises, you can never go wrong with summer dresses; high necklines, lower necklines, long ones, short ones, solid colors and prints…anything goes!

When it comes to color and print, be brave and go for something bold and you will guaranteed have a show-stopping look. Simply keep in mind to select flattering colors for your skin tone.

Above all, remember summer dresses may be experimented with for various looks; try different accessories that range from pearls, bangles and hoops to sandals, flats or pumps. The Coachella Valley Music Festival has just kicked off and with an incredible lineup it's sure to be the event of the year.
All eyes are on the Music this weekend but Style is just as much a part of the festivities. Here are some note-worthy fashion trends spotted during the Day 1:

1) Vanessa Hudgens' fun and eclectic style always stands out especially when she's wearing our very own Dav Moto Solid Black Rainboots.
2) Whitney Port was spotted wearing one of her own designs. We definitely love the bold prints! (Check out her collection here)
3) Kate Bosworth spotted wearing an oh-so-cute Khaki Parka

NET A LA MODE’s Trip Down Fashion’s Memory Lane…..

1. The Tailored Suit

Coco Chanel was the Fashion Scholar that transformed a woman’s wardrobe from corseted silhouettes to tailored suits. The creation of suits was her faultless technique’s representation of comfortable attire, whilst maintaining a sophisticated look. Coco Chanel adored simplicity and pursued elegance with anything she did, and today, her creations remain firm within the fashion world’s reign.

2. The Power Blouse

From her early years as a child star, to her big screen debuts, Elizabeth Taylor never unheeded the supremacy of a blouse. It may be simple, and perhaps too boring for many, but remains a staple piece for every woman’s wardrobe and its fashionable combination possibilities are limitless.  The violet-eyed star was a fashion icon that is still celebrated for her glamorous style.

3. Ballerina Flats
Many of you may know her as the star from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but what you may not know, is how modest and beautiful her style was off of the big screen. Hepbern’s ballerina shoes craft a picture-perfect outfit. Today, flats come in all shapes and colors, and they give off just as much spice as heels do to any ensemble.

4. Little Black Dress

This Italian actress always managed to look sexy, especially when she put on her LBD. Sophia Loren remains to be one of the most beautiful women of our time; her sensual appeal never ceased to come off as effortless. Ladies, make sure there’s a little black dress hanging in your closet…there will always be a time for it to come out and play.
